In 1990, a Texas Tech student named Blake Buchanan built a 240 square-foot shaved ice shack with the help of his family and longtime girlfriend, Kippi. 35 years later, the young entrepreneur’s dream has grown into a nationwide celebration of fun, flavor, and community. As Bahama Buck’s celebrates 35 years of flavoring lives in 2025, we’re inviting Flavor Fans to join us as we look back to our roots and reflect on the stories that got us here.
When Blake opened that first shop in Lubbock, Texas, he wasn’t thinking of franchises or future milestones – he was focused on serving guests and creating flavor-filled memories. We’ve grown a lot over the years, but our purpose has stayed the same: to flavor lives with original products, heartfelt hospitality, and a laid-back island vibe that brings joy year-round.
To kick off our 35th Anniversary, we’re launching a video series that dives into the heart of Bahama Buck’s – the people behind the brand, the stories behind the flavors, and the bumps along the way. From heartfelt reflections to laughable failures, our founders sit down to answer commonly asked questions and reflect on how, together, our Flavor Fans have helped us build something truly special.
